Would you like to learn more about training in Football Manager? We have some excellent guides on. I think you need to have another look at your Goalkeeping calculation – when I do the math for my coaches the numbers doesn’t add up. Not exactly i am afraid. It depends on the level of your facilities, the number of coaches you have.
The stars that are given for the different categories reflect quality, but also workload. If you have a large group of players and a coach is assigned to a category on his own you will never get the full 5 stars, simply because of the high workload. So its not possible to calculate the exact amount a coach will get, only a suggested maximum with his stats. Maybe there is a formula available, but we haven’t found it (yet:P).
I am aware that the stars calculated will be be wrong if you assign a coach to several categories, and guess that I am okay with maximum stars. As part of my job I am working with a reporting tool from Microsoft called Power BI and I am creating a model that will be able to calculate maximum possible training stars per category for either yourself, coaches in club or couches you want to scout. The way that the models work is that you from FM18 go to the coaches profile and print them as a.html file and then put them into one of 3 folders and then update the model and it will calculate the maximum number of available stars per category per coach. The above calculations can’t be right in FM18.
Just to test with Tactics, I used the in-game editor on myself (the head coach). I’m at a EPL club with full state-of-the-art facilities, and I assigned every other coach to Tactics to mitigate workload issues. Here’s what I get: Tac Disc Det Mot True Stars This Calc —– —- —– —– ———— ———- 19 12 1 1 3.5 52 pts (3 stars) 19 13 1 1 4 53 pts (3 star) 19 7 5 5 3.5 55 pts (3 stars) 19 8 5 5 4 56 pts (3 stars) 20 12 1 1 3.5 54 pts (3 stars) 20 13 1 1 4 55 pts (3 stars) It looks like there must be something non-linear happening with stats to star ratings in FM 18.
